Creating and Verifying a New Google My Business Account

This guide helps you create a new Google My Business (GMB) account for your clinic if you do not already have one. You’ll need to complete Google’s verification process to certify ownership of the listing. Finally, you’ll connect your verified GMB account to WebPT Local.

Note: This guide is a continuation of the steps described in the article, Start Here - Connecting to Google My Business.

1. Click start.

2. Log in to your clinic’s Google account using your email address and password, then click Next.

3. Grant the Local Listing Connector access to your Google profile, by clicking Allow.

4. Click Create and connect, to create the new Google My Business Listing and start the connection process.

5. Once the Google My Business profile has been created and connected, click Verify this location from Location Directories menu (Locations>Location name>Directories).

6. You’ll be asked to choose a method by which Google can verify ownership of the business listing.

  • Choosing the phone or email option immediately sends a verification code to the phone/email associated with Google My Business profile.

Note: Phone/email verification is not always available.

  • The Postcard by mail option sends the verification code to the address associated with the Google My Business profile. The postcard should arrive within 10 days. Verification codes are valid for 30 days.

You will see a confirmation describing how you will receive the verification code.

7. Once you receive the code, you’ll need to access the Directories menu (Locations>Location name>Directories) and click Complete verification.

8. Enter the code and click Verify. You’ll receive a confirmation message upon entry of the correct code.

9. Once you have verified that you are the owner of the business location, you can finalize the connection with WebPT Local and your GMB account.

  • For single location practices: Establish the connection by selecting Connect only one location.
  • For multi-location practices: connect all locations associated with the GMB account by clicking Connect all Locations.

Note: Only verified business accounts are able to connect all locations automatically by selecting Connect all locations.

10. Your Google My Business account should now appear within the location Directories.

WebPT Local will begin optimizing the GMB account profile.
